Can I Borrow Your Lighter? 2021 Linoprint at Matchstick Piehouse
Pigeon Muse /2021 Screened at Matchstick Piehouse

“Can I Borrow your lighter.” surpassed all my expectations.

Nestled amongst poetry, music and a couple of papier mache dancers was my large scale linocut and a screening of our Mears and MacLennan short.

It was a night to dance amongst walls of new creations and meet new people.

This art gig brought together creatives of all ages.
It kickstarted live music again with a toast to those who were denied end-of-year shows.

We were all inspired by the same question “Can I Borrow Your Lighter?”

It was the perfect end to three days of linocut gouging.

Thank you to artists and organisers

City and Guilds of London Art School Foundation Show 2020
Curated and Exhibited

Mears and Maclennan Exhibition
at City and Guilds London School of Art
Foundation Show, Kennington
June 2021

TV stand and sign not included.

See that TV Stand in our exhibiton?
Well, who knew a metal tin and rusty chandelier frame would make such a delectable pair? Mears and Maclennan did.

As we shift this mass of metal
across South East London, I finally feel like I have earned my ‘I go to art school’ moniker.

But after the show who would take the tin home?
Mears and Maclennan also need a sign: Nothing a piece of bed board and wood gouges can’t fix.

Turns out mounting an uneven plank of wood to the corner of a wall seven feet off the ground is harder than it looks.
We attach the sign with nails protruding at the edges, and it’s deemed an artistic choice. Life’s great when you have a “grungy” aesthetic.

Nevertheless, we are still fighting over the metal tin.

“This is the only time you’ll exhibit in the Royal Academy so make the most of it.”

Low and behold, she was back the next year.
